This sadly was not as good as the other volume of Groo that I have read before (Groo: Play of the Gods)。 There was not enough of Groo and Tarzan interacting。 I really did like the parts with the writers and their plot at the Comic-con。 Those scenes especially with Sergio had me laughing out loud at times。 Loved reading about him trying to survive in the zoo。Groo only has one thing on his mind and that is how he is going to get more food for himself and his dog, Rufferto。 It's funny that he doesn This sadly was not as good as the other volume of Groo that I have read before (Groo: Play of the Gods)。 There was not enough of Groo and Tarzan interacting。 I really did like the parts with the writers and their plot at the Comic-con。 Those scenes especially with Sergio had me laughing out loud at times。 Loved reading about him trying to survive in the zoo。Groo only has one thing on his mind and that is how he is going to get more food for himself and his dog, Rufferto。 It's funny that he doesn't ever realize how much he is messing up everything for everyone else around him。 Those poor villagers。 Also, his dog is much smarter than he is and that adds to the humor of it all。 I really love the art style of the Groo comics and this was just as good as the others I have read。 It was enjoyable to see the style of Groo mix with the different style of the Tarzan comics。 Especially when Groo and Tarzan meet in the comic。 The styles actually look good together。 I was really looking forward to reading this comic to see what would happen with Groo when he met Tarzan。 It did not have enough of that for me and even though I did enjoy the different parts of this whole volume, I do wish that there was more of Tarzan and Groo interacting。 I think that the goofy character of Groo playing off of the more serious character of Tarzan is an interesting idea。 The Tarzan parts were not as good before their interactions with each other。 Overall, I did like this volume but I did not enjoy it as much as I would have liked to。 I do want to pick up some more of Groo's comics soon。 It took me too long to pick up another one after reading Play of the Gods。 * Thank you to Edelweiss for my ARC of the comic。 All opinions are my own。* 。。。more

Groo does meet Tarzan in this book, but they don't do a lot together。 I'm not sure Groo can do anything with anyone else, as he tends to experience reality in a unique and self-centred way。 Luckily Groo's deranged view of the world overlaps with Tarzan's adventure。Only about half of the book is about this meeting of minds, the rest is about Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones themselves, and has almost nothing to do with Groo and/or Tarzan。 It is fun, though, but don't expect too much actual Groo m Groo does meet Tarzan in this book, but they don't do a lot together。 I'm not sure Groo can do anything with anyone else, as he tends to experience reality in a unique and self-centred way。 Luckily Groo's deranged view of the world overlaps with Tarzan's adventure。Only about half of the book is about this meeting of minds, the rest is about Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones themselves, and has almost nothing to do with Groo and/or Tarzan。 It is fun, though, but don't expect too much actual Groo meeting Tarzan action。Aragones' art is fantastic, as it always is。(Thanks to Dark Horse Books for providing me with an ARC through Edelweiss) 。。。more

I read this as an ARC。This one had three very good stories in it。 Unfortunately, the blending of the three just didn't work for me, because the Tarzan story was far too serious for the Groo crossover to work with it, and the Sergio and Mark story just kept breaking whatever the mood was at the time of the interlude。 The result is one where the blend creates something that is a little painful and that some will find to be in bad taste。I won't give it less than three stars, because the craftsmansh I read this as an ARC。This one had three very good stories in it。 Unfortunately, the blending of the three just didn't work for me, because the Tarzan story was far too serious for the Groo crossover to work with it, and the Sergio and Mark story just kept breaking whatever the mood was at the time of the interlude。 The result is one where the blend creates something that is a little painful and that some will find to be in bad taste。I won't give it less than three stars, because the craftsmanship is, separately, excellent, but as a blended crossover this just wasn't a good idea。The Tarzan story is a very dark and grim one about human trafficking, and the Groo one parallels it in terms of the setting, being in the Groo-equivalent of tribal Africa, but in which the only dangerous forces are those created by Groo himself。 Put the two together, and。。。let's just say it would have worked a lot better had Tarzan ended up in a Groo world, or if both halves of the crossover had been lighter subject matter。The Sergio and Mark story is funniest if you've ever been to San Diego Comic Con and seen either Sergio or Mark in that environment。 The running gags were quite funny。 And yes, Sergio really is that fast an artist。。。The part with the second-rate competitor to the Wild Animal Park。。。eh, not so great。 The humor there was more forced and less interesting, other than the "talking hippo" gag。 。。。more

Not the most brilliant offering of Groo。 The bits about Aragonés and Evanier in ComicCon and in safari park were the most entertaining。And Tarzan is just boring。
